What has been your career highlight so far?
Without a doubt, the biggest highlight of my career are the relationships I’ve created with my clients. I pride myself on my client retention and work hard to make my guests happy. My appointments always have a fun and relaxed vibe, where we collaborate to create a look that will make them feel incredible! Because of this, I have clients that have moved with me throughout my professional journey, visiting multiple salons so we can continue to work together. I am so thankful for these relationships.
Second to my client relationships, are the outstanding professional relationships I’ve been able to create with professionals in both hair and makeup. From photoshoots to my time in the salon, each day I leave with a lesson learned, a new professional partnership and another way I can grow.
My third career highlight is my ability to give back to my community through my work as a hair stylist. I was raised with the saying “you are only as good as the community around you,” and I believe that with my whole heart. I love offing pro bono work to those in need, donating time and resources to local communities and volunteering at The Chicago Lighthouse.
Describe your personal style or aesthetic.
My personal style is classic (Think Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s!) I love simple and timeless looks that never go out of style.
What is your approach to doing hair?
Two words…client-focused. I love getting to know my clients so I can really understand what they are looking for. And while trends and styles are fun, understanding the ups and downs of their day-to-day is essential to our collaboration. Before I begin every appointment, I ask, “How do you want to feel when you walk out the door?” Their answers guide me throughout the entire appointment.
At the end of the day, my goal is to enhance their natural beauty, by giving them best-in-class service, no matter who they are.
